Fahaja Uprockers is a local music collective headed up
by virtuoso vocalist and musician Sheila
Govindarajan and producer DJ
Rabjab, Between them,
the duo plays tablas, congas,
melodica, harmonium, Wurlitzer, chromachord, keyboards, digital & analog
production equipment, mpcs, turntables to create their unique sound. Currently working on their 1st
EP of trip hop, reggae, soul and jazz- Fahaja Uprockers will be releasing this
self-produced album by the end of December. The voice of Fahaja, Sheila, has
performed at Sunset Junction 2002 sharing the stage with artists Sonic Youth,
Mary Wilson, and Chaka Khan. Since
August, Sheila has started a recording/engineering instruction program for LA
youth from families receiving welfare.
